Recent Projects
(Last Updated: 7/8/08)

Here are some of the interesting projects we have completed recently. Please check back frequently for updates.

If interested in learning more about these projects or other services that Custom Laser provides, please email us or call 716-434-8600.

On this project, we Laser cut and formed all of the stainless steel guards you see covering the moving parts.  Laser cutting all the small holes proved more cost effective than fabricating the guards from a perforated material.

This is an award we helped fabricate.  The letters were cut from 1/2" copper on our waterjet.  Two other awards out of brass and aluminum were also made.

Right is a housing that Custom Laser fabricated complete, including laser cutting, forming, and welding.  Custom Laser also made the press brake tooling to complete the job.  The housing will now go out to be e-coated before being sent to the customer.

Pictured left and below is a heat exchanger that a customer asked us to cut in half so that it could be used as a display.  The 2" thick stainless steel heat exchanger was cut on our waterjet.  Note that cutting the exchanger on the waterjet, as opposed to a conventional bandsaw, preserves the integrity of the insides, providing a true cross-section of the part.

Above, left, is a component from a foundry that was originally made from cast steel.  The part is worn and cracked in some places and needed to be replaced.  Custom Laser took the original and reverse engineered it and then water jet cut the blank from 3.5" aluminum.  It will now go out to be machined before the replacement is put back into service.

The Electric Tower in Buffalo, NY has recently undergone a complete renovation.  Iskalo Development subcontracted a good portion of the metal cutting to us, including railing segments, medallions, and other accent pieces.  To see more click here.

Above is a memento we cut and marked for an architectural firm to present as gifts at the ground breaking of a train station.  The 1/270th scale silhouette of the building was laser cut from 20ga stainless steel, brush finished in house, and then laser marked.

This is a decorative plate that will be plated in 24 carot gold and then attached to the front of a designer hand bag.  6 different designs were manufactured in limited quantities.  Custom Laser was given hand drawn artwork, which we scanned and then formatted into an AutoCAD drawing.  The piece was cut from 24ga stainless steel.

This is a map of the world that was cut from 16ga stainless steel for a custom furniture builder and metal worker in Williamsville, NY call Neoteric Custom Creations.  It is mounted to the wall and measures almost 96" long.  To learn more about Neoteric, click here

Here is an Aluminum Mounting Bracket that was waterjet cut from 4" Thick Aluminum.  To cut the entire bracket took over 40 hours of continuous cutting time.

This is a prop wrench for a WWII B-17 Flying Fortress Military Bomber.  A museum in Geneseo, NY asked us to custom make a new wrench to remove the prop because the original wrench broke and new ones aren't available.  Custom Laser used the broken pieces as a template to fabricate a new one for them.

Here is a 10"x10" square tube that
needed various holes and slots cut out
of it. It will be used as a drainage trench underneath a drive-thru.

Shop foreman, Scott Brockman,
shows off a freshly cut sheet of 1/4"
stainless steel. Lasercutting holes is
much more efficient than conventional drilling yet can still keep tight tolerances
in both diameter and concentricity. This
sheet will eventually be rolled into a
cylindrical tube and will be used in a
water filtration system.
